Dr. William Fleming

Dr. William (Bill) Fleming, renowned for his commitment to education and advocacy for STEM opportunities for minorities, passed away on May 28, 2024, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 88. Born in Walls, Mississippi, Dr. Fleming was a veteran of the Marine Corps and an alumnus of Tennessee State University, Fisk University, and Temple University. His illustrious career spanned teaching, educational administration, and leadership as the director of the Forum to Advance Minorities in Engineering (FAME, Inc.). Dr. Fleming’s influence on his students extended beyond academics; he instilled life lessons on discipline, preparedness, and perseverance. As a dedicated mentor and community leader, he was deeply involved with the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and was honored with numerous awards for his service.

As an alternate recognition of sympathy, the family would like to suggest well-wishers consider making a donation “In memory of Dr. William Fleming”, to the Forum to Advance Minorities in Engineering (FAME) in Wilmington, Delaware.
